Birthday Celebration - Chuck Amor

Passing - James Gabriel Doucet

With heavy hearts we, the family of James Gabriel Doucet, 78, of Sydney, announce his peaceful passing on Friday, May 21, 2010, at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Gabriel Simon and Elizabeth Aylward Doucet.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by 'the love of his life and best friend', his wife of 43 years, Louise Jessie (MacNeil) in October 2009, sister, Noreen, brothers, Johnnie and Manny, brothers-in-law, Lloyd Joseph 'JoJo' MacNeil and Gerry (Beverly) MacNeil.
James served in the Navy as a Leading Seaman from 1951 to 1956. During the Korean War, served at the Naval Radio Station, Fort Churchill, Manitoba. He worked for the Department of National Defense in Communications for 20 years until his retirement in 1992 when he and Louise moved back to Sydney. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart parish, Sydney. Jim was a kind gentle, loyal, sweet man who touched the lives of anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be sadly missed.
Surviving are brothers-in-law, Donald 'Timmie' MacNeil, British Columbia, Arthur 'Tony' (Mary Jane) MacNeil and Charles 'Gunner' MacNeil, both of Sydney; along with several nieces and nephews.
At Jim's request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 26 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Sydney with Rev. Anthony O'Connor officiating. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Cancer Society, Cape Breton Palliative Care Unit or to the VON.
